Dagger Moon

Some woodlands are verdant, lush, and green. Others are strewn with spindly shrubs and deciduous trees, their bare limbs sharp like spindles. Dry and mineral qualities contrast the scent of nutrient-rich soil; like dog-eared pages on an old novel, sun-bleached and papery bark folds back, revealing fresh green heartwood beneath.
