Step one: Light your match — create an account
Creating an account opens the door to perfumer's hollow — a hidden network where collectors, archivists, and fragrance enthusiasts gather to explore, review, exchange, and document the scents worth remembering.
Visitors may still wander the Archive freely, but listing, messaging, and trading belong to those who step deeper into the Hollow.
Yearly plans are $5 Member, $7 Premium, and $10 Collector. Browsing the Archive stays free.
Your information remains yours. Never sold. Never traded. Never shared beyond the Hollow.
Step two: Inventory, listings, and splits
My Scents is your private inventory — the bottles and millilitres you actually own. CSV import and bulk add land here first.
A listing is millilitres you offer on The Exchange. It is not a new catalog page. The Archive is the encyclopedia; The Exchange is the table.
A group split is one pour with numbered slots. Start it from a bottle in My Scents; others claim slots from The Exchange. Payment stays between you.
You may list the same perfume more than once (different sizes or prices). Listed plus reserved split millilitres cannot exceed what you own.
Step three: Wishlist and alerts — not a second hunt
Your wishlist is specific bottles you want. When someone lists one, we can notify you. A public wishlist is how other collectors see what you are looking for — there is no separate ISO board.
Saved searches (Premium) remember filters on the Archive or the Exchange and ping you when something new matches. Manage them under Community → Alerts, and in the bell on your ledger.
Both are the same chase: named bottles on the wishlist, filters on a saved search. Use one vocabulary so the Hollow does not grow a second marketplace.
Mute a search, snooze it for a week, or switch to daily delivery in alert preferences — matches always land in the bell or your digest, not a second inbox. Your public wishlist is how others see what you want. Try next lives on your digest and My Scents.
Step four: Message, agree, then record the trade
Every exchange begins with discovery on The Exchange, a split slot, or a match from your shelf.
Talk in messages, agree terms, then save it as a trade so both of you have a trail. Group splits already track claimed, paid, shipped, and received — 1:1 swaps should feel the same.
perfumer's hollow does not process payments or ship bottles. Reputation, reviews, and Collector Standards help you choose who to deal with.
If something goes wrong, report the profile or open a dispute from the trade. Price fields are hints, not checkout.

Every review, wear logged, exchange, and saved bottle adds another layer to the Archive and the community shaping it.
