October's Perfume of the Month is called Dust and Clay. This name was disclosed to me by a deceased Romani woman through communication with the Sorceress Cagliastro, Necromancer in the hands of Nine. This Romani woman used to roam the streets of Scotland and told people's fortunes through the ancient art of coin divination. To honor the name of this fragrance, I set out to compose a perfume that is dusty & clay-like yet still beautiful & elegant. To create the Dust and Clay accord, I included a stunning Mitti Attar imported from India. Mitti Attar is a co-distillation of East Indian Sandalwood and broken clay pots. During distillation, the sandalwood absorbs the dry, dusty earthy aroma of the clay, which counterpoints perfectly with violet to create the synergistic heart of this perfume. My aesthetic for this fragrance was further inspired by the Pre-Raphaelite painting by John Collier entitled "The Priestess of Delphi", another powerful female oracle.
