When the winds shift and the night creeps in a bit earlier, my heart settles into a bittersweet ache, a welcome sadness and longing for something I'd never quite been able to name until I first heard the plaintive cello of that opening theme. Jack-of-the-Woods begins with my custom pumpkin note, not too sugary or over spiced, wraps it in vanilla-scented, campfire-roasted marshmallow, and tumbles it into the underbrush, joyfully emerging stuck all over with bark and dirt. It's a scent for leaf-pile leaping, pumpkin-patch prowling, spooky shadow-skulking, and fully surrendering to the fleeting wonders of the season.
