An ode to Jeanne Mammen, and artist active in early 20th century documenting the unique queer scene of Berlin after WW1. She acted as a fly on the wall at cafes and clubs illustrating the burgeoning city life and newfound freedom of queer people in the city at that time. Bright violet strikes through the cold mossy cobblestone streets. The lights of a small cafe pierce through the dark night drawing her into its warmth. Cafe Nollendorf the sign read. A single violinist played in the corner for the small crowd most of them not paying attention. Two women taken by the somber song slow dance looking deeply into each others eyes. Jeanne settles at a table, inhales the smoky ambiance of the cafe, and starts to draw.
